Bonjour!
October has flown by very quickly! We have been busy in class finishing up our units on Habitat and Government. The Grade 4's will be beginning their final assignment in Habitats this week. They will be working in class to create a diorama of a habitat of their choice. They can bring in items from home to add to their dioramas. (I will be providing construction paper, various colours of plasticine, pipe cleaners and paints. The students are encouraged to bring items from home to add to their dioramas.) I look forward to seeing their creations!
The Grade 5's will be working this week on The Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and discussing some of the rights we enjoy as Canadian citizens. As part of our Government unit, the Grade 5's are also busy in class preparing a short presentation on a Canadian Symbol of their choice.
The presentations of "Ma vie dans un sac" are now all complete. The students were well prepared and impressed us all with their varied interests! It was a pleasure to be able to get to know the students a little more through their presentations. In the near future, the students will be preparing their next presentations to share with the class.
A few notes for this week:
Progress Reports and Interview Request forms will be going home on Thursday. As I do not have enough time slots to meet with parents of all students in the classroom, not every family will be requested to come in for an interview at this time. I would be happy to speak with parents outside of interview time, however. Should you wish to schedule an interview, or speak over the phone, please do not hesitate to contact me through a note in your child's agenda, on the interview request form, or at my email : angela.reed@ocdsb.ca
Thursday is Library Day. Our school library was closed last week to make room for some new shelving. Regular book exchanges will resume this week.
Friday - We will be observing Remembrance Day on Friday. The students will be attending a Remembrance Day assembly at 11:30 to honour and reflect upon the sacrifices made by our service men and women.
One final note: There will be NO Journal de Lecture homework this week for students. We did not have access to the school library for book exchanges. As such, we will not have a Journal de Lecture entry due on Friday, November 9th.
Your partner in education,
Angela
